An excavation is made to the footing, exposing the existing drain tile and foundation crack. Once the wall is cleaned and the crack identified, a water reactive clay mastic called Bentonite is applied over the surface of the crack. Bentonite expands when in contact with water. The Flood Boot, a HDPE sheeting is applied over the Bentonite and is sealed to the wall to create the contained environment required for the Bentonite to function properly. The Air-Gap membrane is installed & sealed on three sides. The bottom is open to the drain tile.

The air gap created by the membrane allows any water to drain harmlessly to the tile. If any water backs up under the membrane and reaches the Bentonite, it expands or swells and prevents the water from reaching the crack.
